Ayzahd

Name: Ayzahd Reutan
Pronounced like: eye-zud ree-you-tan
Nickname: Zah
Species: Gikairan
Male
DOB: 11th January
Height: 5ft 8 (1.72m)

Appearance

Ayzahd is a white male Gikairan with blue scales and shoulder-length brown hair. Hes on the taller side for a Gikairan, though not by much.
His clan markings are two blue crescents on his cheek bones.
For the early stages of his life, around others he wears a magical disguise that makes him look human- hiding his clan markings, scaled limbs and the entirety of his wings.
Ayzahd is a dark mage, and so his magic emits a purple light.
Ayzahd's posture depends largely on the stage in his life, and what hes doing. As hes disguised as a human, expect him to slouch, look anxious and generally avoid drawing attention to himself. Hes also more likely to hold his wings in front of him, as a way to keep them under control, and isn't particularly expressive in them. However even at this stage in his life, he has confidence when casting magic, and his posture can entirely change.
Its only many many years later, as he meets others of his kind and embraces who he is that his posture is confident all the time.

Backstory

Ayzahd is a prodigal dark mage from the middle of nowhere. He was found abandoned as a baby in the forest, left to the elements and taken in by Aurikon and Ide. They settled on a remote farm to raise him away from prying eyes, and to gain some level of self sufficiency. As a Gikairan child raised in a human civilization that had never seen a Gikairan before, Ayzahd actually grew up pretending to be human. A magical illusion tied to his clothing kept his less-human characteristics hidden from others.
His magical powers manifested quite young, and he picked it up quickly. As a mage, he was required by law to pass a competency test, to ensure he had control over his powers. He took this at 18, moving to the nearest town for a short course and the test. It was there, away from the seclusion of his childhood, that his talents were quickly discovered and garnered attention. Before his competency test was over, he'd already been offered a full scholarship from the most prestigious university on the continent. Not knowing what to do with his life, and finding genuine enjoyment in magic, he took it and soon moved to the capital.
But not all attention is good attention- the Sinnuit, followers of the imprisoned dark Avatar Li, had spent hundreds of years looking for the right magical prodigy to free their leader. And Ayzahd, with a special talent for undoing other peoples spells, was a perfect candidate.

Personality

Ayzahd is a good person at heart, but he's rather naïve. He grew up very sheltered, and has a tendency to believe everyone has the same good intentions as him. For example, he wouldn't think to look out for pickpockets in the city... because he would never consider stealing from another person.
Ayzahd can be rather selfless, looking out for other people, even if it might inconvenience him, and he frequently uses magic to help other people out. Hes extremely confident in his magical abilities, but also rather humble. He knows hes good, but doesn't really believe himself to be exceptional. He's an exceptionally powerful mage who believes himself to be only slightly above average.
Because hes a natural with magic, and grown up in an environment where its used every day, hes extremely interested in the subject. To put it simply- hes a massive nerd for all things magical. He picks up the concepts pretty easily, and is extremely interested in what other people have to say on the subject and what he can learn about it from them.

While hes confident in his powers, Ayzahd is not really confident in himself. Hes been hidden away for so long, and actively hides part of his identity, that he has body image issues. He struggles to see how other people might find him attractive, and even just among friends he constantly worries that they might work out hes not human.

Wardrobe

Ayzahd's wardrobe can be split into 2 major phases in his life - before his story and after.

Pre-Story

Ayzahd was raised in a humble background, and most of his outfit choices at this point in his life reflect that. His clothing would be made of simple cloth, such as linen, and mostly undyed. There would be little ornamentation, except for some small pieces of hand embroidery around the edges.
Take inspiration from the Renaissance for clothing styles.
Because hes trying to avoid being noticed as a Gikairan at this point in his life, he often wears clothing to help hide himself. He wears more long sleeves than short, and his outfits are almost always accessorised with some kind of cape, or poncho, to cover the wing holes in the back of his shirts.
The magical illusion he uses to disguise himself is tied to a small, metal dragon pendant, worn a little smooth over the years, and tied onto a leather cord. Despite being a pendant, he rarely wears it around his neck- its far more likely to be worn around his ankle, where its hidden. This is the only piece of jewellery Ayzahd ever wears.

At University, he is required to wear a uniform for his classes, or study sessions. This uniform is far more elaborate than anything he would have worn before. As a dark mage, his uniform is dyed purple. The embroidery would be more elaborate and obvious, but more like generic patterns - lined edges, geometric patterns etc. The patterns aren't personal to Ayzahd, but generic.
A small half cape is included on a coat with the uniform, which Ayzahd is more likely to wear all the time.

Post-Story

After Ayzahd's story is complete, he has access to far more wealth than ever before, and he wears far more elaborate outfits that are a lot more fashionable.
Look to 18th century menswear for inspiration.
His outfits are largely purple, to highlight who he is as a dark mage, though he doesn't exclusively wear the colour.
Even at this stage in his life, Ayzahd does not wear actual jewellery. The most he really owns is a signet ring (which is for wax seals, rather than fashion) as well as various cape clasps, cufflinks or lapel pins.
It's this phase in his life that I largely draw him in - its just a bit more visually interesting.
